“We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope!” – Martin Luther King Jr.
In this life, we will always face disappointment. Our positive thinking does not stop things from happening to us. You cannot “positive think” your way to a life without pain. Faith can, however, prevent you from suffering unnecessarily and lead you to the good that is already in each situation. While our principles of positive thinking do not prevent us from experiencing pain, what they do is give us the tools and faith necessary to experience and transcend all manner of things. My favorite Unity author, Eric Butterworth, wrote, “Things may happen to you, and things may happen around you, but the most important thing is what happens within you.”
I often say the good you are looking for is already in your life or is already looking for you. Join us in this Advent season as we continue this Sunday by lighting the candle for Peace.
