Milan Scott
Program Director, Spiritual Playdate

As the Program Director of Spiritual Playdate, my goal is to guide children through a comprehensive, exciting exploration of Unity's principles through arts and crafts, cooking, games, and stories.  A native of Berkeley, CA, I was raised in a spiritually conscious environment, and I have been working with children for as long as I can remember.

I am a wife and mother of two children, and am currently working toward my Bachelor's degree in Education.  I bring my passion for childcare to each and every Spiritual Playdate, and I love to facilitate the creation of amazing memories for youth and their families.

Outside of my work for Unity San Francisco, I am a Project Coordinator for Playworks, in which I focus on teaching life skills through the power of play.

Director of Curriculum Development and Outreach

My spiritual journey started during my teens, and around that time, it became clear to me that children and education were always going to be a big part of my life.  Since then, I have raised three wonderful children, worked as a teacher, directed preschool programs, and received a B.A. and M.A. in Education.

I discovered Unity for the first time in Houston over a decade ago.  When my husband and I moved to San Francisco in 2015, we found a warm and loving community at Unity San Francisco, and it instantly became our spiritual home.

As a long-time meditator and yoga practitioner with a huge passion for education, children, and spiritual growth, I feel blessed to be a part of the Spiritual Playdate program here at Unity San Francisco, where all of the pieces of my life seem to beautifully come together.  Being able to share Unity teachings with the children and noticing how we light up together with each Sunday encounter makes my heart sing.

I have been attending Unity San Francisco for about five years, ever since my husband, Ken Daigle, became the Senior Minister.  I'm thrilled that we now have a children's ministry, and I am happy to help out with it!

I'm a parent of a newborn and a nearly-three-year-old who regularly attends, and I have cared for children for years in different capacities: uncle, godfather, babysitter.  When I volunteer, I try to be sure to mirror with the kids what is going on upstairs for the adults; it's not always possible, but when we can, it's great.  My 'day job' is teaching MBA students at Stanford, so being in the Spiritual Playdate program is a nice change of pace!

Ever since my first magical visit to Unity San Francisco nearly two years ago, every Sunday feels as though I've come home!  All of the things we do here nurture the mind, spirit, soul, and consciousness, and I am so excited to share these teachings with the children in a way that they can understand and apply to their own young lives.

Although I'm originally from Belarus, I moved to San Francisco in 2013 so that I could help raise my grandson.  I love to bring my multicultural background, experience as a math teacher, and training as a folk and ballet dancer to each Spiritual Playdate, and I am very passionate about sharing theatrical performances and personal family stories with the children.

I am so grateful to our community for all of its events and offerings, and I am so thrilled to be a part of the Youth and Family team!
